Knowledge and technology-intensive industries

Eurostat groups the NACE economic activities according to technology intensity (for manufacturing industry) and knowledge intensity (services).

Origin/Creator: Eurostat
Method/Structure: In the manufacturing industry, a distinction is made between high, medium high, medium low and low-technology. Services are grouped as knowledge-intensive and less knowledge-intensive, with both groups being further subdivided.
This categorisation is available for the NACE Rev. 1.1 and the NACE Rev. 2 (cf. Eurostat 2009).
