NACE

The Statistical Classification of Economic Activities in the European Community, or NACE for short (acronym for Nomenclature statistique des activités économiques dans la Communauté européenne), was developed by Eurostat in the 1970s and has been repeatedly updated since then. The most recent version is the NACE Rev. 2 from 2008.
The aim of the classification is to provide a "framework for the collection and presentation of a wide range of statistical data organised by economic activities from the field of economy, " (Eurostat 2008: 13). The NACE has a hierarchical organisation.
